What Fits in a 10ft Storage Unit?
10ft Storage Container — What Fits and What It's Used For
A 10ft container gives you 80 sq ft of floor, a footprint of 10ft by 8ft and around 600 cubic feet once you stack to head height. That is the size of a small single garage, and double the space of our 5ft unit.
What fits in a 10ft container?
- A complete one-bedroom flat — double bed, sofa, table and chairs, fridge-freezer, washing machine and around 120 boxes
- A two-bedroom flat as a part-load, with the larger furniture stored elsewhere
- A full room of belongings for a year away, with space to reach the back
- Long items an 8ft will not take — ladders, a kayak, surfboards, scaffold boards under 10ft
- Business stock on racking down one side,.
- A garage clear-out including bikes, mower, workbench and tools, with room to park the car afterwards
What doesn't fit in a 10ft container?
A full three-bedroom house will not go in, and neither will a houseful of furniture plus garden machinery plus boxes. Anything longer than ten feet needs more room. If you are moving a whole family home, the 20ft container is the realistic starting point, and it opens to the full width so sofas and wardrobes go in without dismantling.
Getting your things in and out
You park at your own door. The approach is level and hard-surfaced, so a transit van or a small removal lorry reverses right up and unloads at floor height — no lift, no stairs, no trolleying things down a corridor.
The site is between Laverstock and Ford on the edge of Salisbury, five minutes from the centre, and reached without joining the queues around Churchfields Industrial Estate or Southampton Road.

10ft storage container — common questions
Is a 10ft container big enough for a one-bedroom flat? Yes — a 10ft is the realistic minimum for a complete one-bed move including sofa, bed and appliances. Anything smaller works only for a part-load.
How does a 10ft compare to a garage? Closely. 80 sq ft is about the floor area of a small single garage.
Will a 10ft take long items like ladders or a kayak? Yes, up to about ten feet. It is the smallest size we offer that handles long loads comfortably, which is a common reason people choose it over an 8ft.
Do other Salisbury storage sites offer a 10ft? Very few. Most local sites run small, medium and large with nothing in between.
Can I change size later? Yes, subject to availability. Minimum rental is one month, there is no deposit and no long contract, and you can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before your move-in date.
